One Night Too Many
A downloadable game for Windows
Enjoy Your Stay, it's to DIE for...
You thought it would be wise to stay an extra night at the grand hotel. You figured it be a great place to drown your sorrows. You were mistaken. You were wrong...
One Night Too Many is the latest Short horror game I have created, with similarities to my previous titles - 'Ward 17' and 'Remorse of Revelations: Afterdeath Edition,' but with its own twist to give it an extra unique aspect...
(There are also TWO different endings to this game...)
CONTROLS:
W,A,S,D to Move
Space Bar to Jump
Walk over objects to interact (Keys, notes, etc)
Left mouse to use equipped item
Escape to Quit at any time
Development Background info (please read):
This game will be the last short free horror I plan to release for some time, given that full development focus will be on completing my main project, my Horror/Retro FPS title - The Long Road Back (Demo of which is out on both itch.io and Game Jolt). Originally, I wasn't planning on making more of these, but as a thank you for the amazing support so far with these games, I figured it be a good thank you note to release one last short horror game for the time being. I would like the thank all those who have followed, donated or shared my work so far, means a great deal! :D

Really cool game! The jump scare when you look outside really got me! I only got one ending. Great work! Game here:
Please sub to my YouTube channel. Thanks for playing!
So this hit me on a deep level. I could really relate to the protagonist, especially with the two separate endings. The scares and atmosphere overall were good too ^^
Thanks! :)
^_^
Hello, I would like to play this game as it seems nice, but my game doesn't open at all, when I go into the logs it says aqProf.dll is missing along with VtuneApi.dll, VtuneApi32.dll, and VtuneApi32e.dll
Hello, sorry for the troubles, have you tried launching the game jolt version from the launcher? If that doesn't work let me know, thanks.
I don't have a launcher? I downloaded the game through Itch and this is what it gave me.
Unsure if the files are an issue, this is the launcher i was reffering to: https://gamejolt.com/client as It may be something to do with the way itch.io handles files, one night too many is also on game jolt (you can search for it), so you may have better luck there
This was fun, spooky and a good story.
Thanks!
check out my video.
Thanks! Glad you liked the concept and story.
Thanks for sharing your game with us! It was pretty neat, great art style and you got me a couple of times, I did a recording of three of your games as a three scary game video and it was pretty neat, only thing I'd comment on is the game audio, was super loud. Besides that it was awesome!!
Loved this. Starts around 5:00.
Thanks 👍
A fun little game. It has a good atmosphere.
Thanks :D
(your game begins at 1:06:08)
A solid little experience, this one! It's mainly a bit of a shame that the monsters are slightly too cartoony for their own good in a game wih an otherwise dark ending, but nonetheless I enjoyed myself. the piano noises in one room are especially great.
Thanks! Kinda tried to balance the game between seriousness and cartoony, glad you found it a solid experience overall though 😁👍
Thanks 😁👍
#2nd video, Was very confused probably should have read the papers for the story, My bad.
No worries, thanks for trying it out 👍
Cheers 😁👍
Bravo pour ton tavail et tes post regulier

Had a lot of fun playing this game.
Thanks, glad you had a lot of fun playing, cheers :D
Really awesome game! Kept giving us scares haha! Had a lot of fun playing it :)

I had a lot of fun with this one! one jumpscare in particular almost made me throw my chair backwards xd
Thanks, glad you had fun :D
How long have I been at the hotel, how much longer can I be here, Who's paying for this anyway... Oh I guess I am...
P.S. the clown got me a little. no shame lol :)
Luigis mansion has nothing on this game! I got the "true" ending, and I have no regurts. I enjoyed my experience (Good game)
Thanks 🤣
Me and my girlfriend really eenjoyed this game. https://youtu.be/rBgAUukm1oM
Thanks 👍
Nice game! I enjoyed the nice little twist at the end and the monsters were very different from what I've seen before. A lot of horror games are very formulaic, but I the monsters felt random (in a good way) so I enjoyed how chaotic it was off it, check out the video down below if you feel like it!
Thanks man! wanted the it to feel a little diffeerent overall, glad you liked it! 😁👍
Exactly the right balance between atmosphere, scares and story! So much fun! ☺️
Also, good luck with your project!
Good to know the balance was nailed, much appreciated! Hopefully my next project will be worth the wait 😁👍
Fun game! Nice art, sound design, and overall, the game was pretty solid. The style is pretty charming. Scares could be a little better though. Had a good time playing and recording it for a video. Who knew you could shoot ghosts with a gun? But then again, are they really ghosts (No spoils!)? Great stuff dev, looking forward for more projects!
Please check out the video (Game starts at 23:39) and my channel: VladMan.
Thank you!
Thanks man! Wanted to focus on other elements over than scares when making this game, will be sure to improve that aspect in future! Glad you had a good time playing overall, happy you liked the style too :D
No spoils you say after you literally spoiled it? Come on dude
The most attractive part of this game is the design, crayon monsters with ghastly figures running towards you with incomprehensible wailing to match but the rose-tinted glasses can only tint so hard. Ward-17 was a rather ingenious use of design to complement actual gameplay, you got a chance to clearly see the drawings on the wall before they tried to rip your throat out. In One Night Too Many, that isn’t really the case and the unique style that is normally utilized does little to add to the story. Most of One Night Too Many’s gameplay boils down to sprinting down an almost looping PT horror corridor, grabbing a key that is sometimes in a slightly different spot but always in the same room, and finally experiencing the twist that anyone could have seen from a mile away.
For the record, this isn’t a bad game, just a much more mediocre experience than the developer’s other titles. Maybe spending more time coming up with unique ways to leverage your style is the way to go. Rather than sticking to almost “tropey twist and turn storylines”.
Also “Multiple” endings aren’t something you should be advertising when the only difference is which side of the room you walk to before getting to the end text.
Final thoughts: A perfectly average experience that doesn’t really stand out, but you certainly have the potential to stand out and you should. I do not regret spending money on this game. More cynicism below.
I appreciate the Feedback, Totally understandable points, i will look to take some of the critiques on board, thanks for trying it out regardless, Glad you liked the style though, that is something i plan to continue with, cheers
😁👍
Funny and scary :) this was my gameplay with both endings in spanish
Thanks! :D
THIS HAD ME SO SCARED OMG! Idk if it was the time of night or what but JESUS THis has me freaking out XD Good job!
Hope you Enjoy my video!!
Thanks :D
game had good atmosphere and sound. Ending was a little predictable but a fun experience either way. https://youtu.be/rOLC749pvi0
Thanks, glad you had fun playing it 👍
I absolutely loved the weirdness of the game. This one is a breath of fresh air. The thing that most surprised me was that Walter didn't go out guns (or more accurately - gun) blazing.
Thanks! Wanted to try and create something that would be a little different, moments of shock and twist, with a small amount of humour (with some of the notes), and also, yeah, wanted one of the conclusions a bit more unique/unexpected, thanks for playing!
Loved the story in this one! Good Work!
Thanks!
Thanks for the game! Please sub my channel to support me (:
